PARKING & TUNNELS | fire & gas detection

  •

A CO / LPG / NOx detection system is often a necessity for controlling a parking ventilation system. The detection system guarantees the air quality in the parking garage. In addition to the CO and LPG sensors, the detection system is equipped with an evacuation system.

Applying gas detection is useful if there is a mandatory mechanical ventilation system, because natural ventilation is missing or insufficiently guaranteed. They must also be protected. That is why we recommend our detectors with a stainless steel housing that is vandal-proof.

    CO DETECTION

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a toxic gas. Concentrations, which are set as limit values, must be monitored in the garage. The CO detectors must be placed at a height of 1.50 meters above the floor. This height is considered as the breathing zone of people. The detectors can monitor a maximum floor space of 400 m².

    LPG DETECTION

No LPG may be present in a parking garage. LPG is an explosive gas that is heavier than air. At a concentration higher than 10% of the explosion limit (LEL), maximum ventilation must be immediately performed and, if necessary, evacuated. The LPG detectors must be placed at a height of 0.15 meters above the floor and may monitor a maximum floor space of 400 m².

    NOX DETECTION

Nitrogen oxides means both nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The sum of both is referred to as NOX: [NOX] = [NO] + [NO2]. The detection of nitrogen oxides is based on the chemiluminescent reaction between nitrogen monoxide (NO) and ozone (O3). The reference calibration method for NOX analyzers is based on primary calibration standards for NO and NO2. The primary calibration standard for NO consists of a certified calibration gas cylinder with a concentration of 100 ppm NO under nitrogen atmosphere.

    FIRE DETECTION

These control the extraction installation and must be of the analogue addressable optical-thermal type. A minimum of 1 detector per 60 m² is a requirement (to be expanded further according to the NBN S21-100).

The purpose of an automatic fire alarm system is to detect a fire at such a stage that the fire can be controlled with simple means.
